SecretSig Bio

I am I. Sigmund Mosley, Jr., the unwitting godfather of early-stage technology investing in Atlanta. More officially I am the President of Imlay Investments, Inc. Imlay Investments, Inc. is the personal investment company of John P. Imlay, Jr.

You may have may have heard of John. He was the CEO of Management Science America (MSA). Once took a sledgehammer on stage to a keypunch machine in a presentation. Sold MSA to Dun and Bradstreet in 1990 for $330 million. Made a fortune and I ain't talking small. John hired me to invest the portion he can afford to put at risk. We wanted to give back to the community and make money at the same time. Investing in stuff like technology startups and the Atlanta Falcons.

I met John when I a staff accountant at MSA in 1969. I was the only guy that knew anything that was going on in the accounting department so John fired the rest of the staff and made me Secretary-Treasurer. I ended up a VP at MSA.

Heard of Internet Security Systems? I was the angel investor. Got there about the time Tom maxed out his credit cards. Went public, sold to IBM.

Witness Systems, yeah, I was the angel there too. Went public. Market cap over $500 million

I funded TRADEX which we sold to Ariba for $5.6 billion. Yeah, that's a "b".

I bet I have invested in over 100 tech startups. Don't want to talk about the losers. But I would fund some of the entrepreneurs again.

Right now with all the money I have under my control and investing I do I sit on more company boards then I can count. Currently I serve on the board of Contract Packaging, Inc., eQuorum Corporation; Invistics Corporation; Kelly Registration, Inc.; Photobooks, Inc.; Pramana, Inc.; Rotunda Corporation; SciHealth, Inc.; Skyway Software Inc; and USBA Holdings, Inc. I may have missed one or two.

All these not for profits want money too so I am also a director of Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures, The Imlay Foundation, Inc., Techbridge, the Technology Association of Georgia, and Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Southeast. It's enough to keep a guy in meetings all the time.

I was born in 1946 and am getting a little old. But I am not tired. No, not at all. People keep talking about when I am going to stop working but I think I will keep at it for a while.

I have six children. Besides making babies my hobbies include golf, coin collecting, reading and a glass of fine wine from time to time.
